Wind Statistics 2010 vs. 2011
Got a question you just need to get an answer to very soon, this may be the right place to post. Observe dwight howard the rules, behave yourself and then will come, answers to your questions.
Windguru.com has an archive function. Here you must be aware that as far as I am aware calculates wind. it means, for example., to local conditions that may increase the wind speed does not appear in their measurements. / Carsten
Does anyone know where to find a wind statistics showing how much (little) it has blown this year compared to last year (especially the west coast) Thanks I do not know - have asked DMI and Kyst.dk after the previous year, and they had probably data, but not publicly available was the answer. At DMI, you have an archive where you can see the statements above average and maximum wind for each month, every year, in 37 cities in Denmark. It's probably not "coast" data unfortunately ... But they might give an idea? For example, there have been 8% more wind in October 2011, ift October 2010 over the entire Denmark - I was just inside and see now. I'm also curious dwight howard as to if anyone knows of a reasonably detailed wind statement on the coasts? Have not found one myself for wind industry has probably this data, along the coasts - but may be the most is to get outlined wind direction distribution and geographically, and therefore not continuously measured and thus may not be up-to-date PF
Peter I do not understand, that October has to be windier than last year, maybe the first part, but the second half and the first half of November has been bad, can only remember the last time we were in Fornæs of 5 We want the wind now!! Before coming ice on the water
I think it is very much a subjective judgment whether you think there has been little or a lot ... I sail most around Aarhus / Jutland, and so with some detour to the west coast every now and then. And you can see that my average kite size for 2011 is 9m2, compared dwight howard to 9.5 m2 in 2010. The image of all days and kites I have sailed dwight howard with the two years looks like this (now I was even curious, then made a quick calculation):
Even the very short summer sessions with 12m2, for example from Anholt - are included, as they pull up the average - which really should be weighted by session duration could also be said meeen, dirt puddle. Keep it simple. For typical when out with 5 and 7 sail maybe 5-7 hours while you may well want a little half-hour summer fun with a 12. But fun to Anholt (late July each year) there is always a part 5 and 7m2 days - in the middle of summer - but also some 12m2 days - so we get the whole thing over there always - although both September and October have been clear since the best wind months of this year - even more than last year it seems! Only the last two weeks here starting November wind has been a little hmm hmm and sailed quite a few 9m2, instead of the most commonly used size of 7m2 seen over the years. Not sure I am 100% representative of the wind, and often lucky with the places I hit - but conversely, I have some sessions or change style or gear violently, so they are actually entirely comparable, I would say - and it was not exactly what you asked for - 2011 compared to 2010 wind? PF
Hello D48 (I have now discovered that Carsten already referred you to wind guru, but you get my post anyway!) I think (også!) that wind guru is a fairly good website to get answers to questions like yours, and not least if one is to find the best seasons for new destinations. dwight howard You can, for example. get wind data measured monthly over a number of years for up to 81 spots in Denmark and thousands of places abroad. However, there are some pretty important basis for the calculation of statistics on wind guru, as you can see in the footnote 1 at the bottom of my post. Use this link if you want to directly enter the monthly statistics, and if you prefer the Danish version dwight howard of the page: windguru Now you can then choose between inventory: * no wind days per month * percent wind days per month and you can get such data in : * month by month individually for the year you want (for example. 2010-11) * as monthly dwight howard average for the year you want (for example. 2003-11) Eg. number dwight howard of wind days per month for each of the past 23 months Klitmoeller:
Here you can see that 2011 was much better than 2010. For example. interested in days with at least 5 Bft (> 8 m / s), as were 7 of the first 10 months of 2011 compared dwight howard with the same month in 2010 (not June, August and September) and there were 76 "good" days in January to October 2010, but 112 in January-October 2011. However, it looks very bad for November 2011 (2 days so far against 23! Days in 2010) .. Or average percent wind days per month for the last 8 years for Klitmoeller:
Note 1 Basis of data in wind guru: 1) The recorded data is not for the current weather conditions, but the projections / forecasts that are made every 6 hour year round; 2) When calculated per day, it's the strongest winds predicted at 10 m height at least 3:10
